Our fun-filled weekend!

Wow! What a whirlwind weekend!

Saturday we went to the Ohio Scottish Games in Wellington. Ron and Ginny had invited us to go, the whole family was there including Kirk's Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bruce. We had a great time. The day went by fast, there was so much to see and do! It was neat to hear and see more about Scottish history. The bagpipes were amazing, the sound of the huge combined bagpipes in the opening ceremony gave me goosebumps! It was great. Brady had a fun time, he was able to participate in the Border Collie demonstration and also play a kid Scottish game. Both Brady and Bethany enjoyed petting the animals(we washed their hands real well after!). Cara thought we should buy one of the cows that were for sale buuuut we decided to pass this time. Hey Cara, maybe we'll buy it for you for your birthday, seeing we know how much you LOOOOOVE animals! ;) I had one of the best corn dogs I had in a long time too. It was so good. And you are thinking, are corn dogs a Scottish food? Well, probably not a traditional food, but it was darn good so it was Scottish to me on Saturday! I've attached some pictures of the day below.

On Sunday, we woke up really early and went to Pittsburgh to see Eric, Christy and Abigail, and most importantly to see Abigail get dedicated. She did such a good job, she was wide-eyed taking it all in. Instead of the pastor speaking this Sunday, Eric and Chirsty's church had The India Children's Choir perform. It was so good! I liked it because they actually did a musical where they told of their tribe's history and how they became a Christian tribe. The kids were as sweet as they could be! One little girl just loved Bethany! She told my mom that she had a little sister back home that was Bethany's age and she missed her so much. They travel 11 months out of the year! It was sweet and a real blessing.
After church we went out to eat to a yummy Italian restaurant, then we went back to thier house and visited a little with Eric, Christy and Abigail for a little bit longer before we had to head back home. It was so nice to see them, we hadn't seen them in a couple of months. Abigail has grown so much and she's starting to sit up! She's precious! :)

Bibleman!

On Sunday evening Brady, Bethany & I went to Medina to see Bibleman! He came and did a show at my parents church, Cornerstone Chapel. I wasn't for sure how Brady was going to do he started getting sick last week but he had a pretty bad cold by Saturday(those sisters spredding their germies, Bethany had one the week prior). He did well though, once Bibleman came out he yelled and clapped and he had a lot of fun. At the end of the show, Brady was able to meet Bibleman! Thanks to Grams we got a nice front spot in line. heehee He got Bibleman's autograph and a picture taken with him. I didn't realize it but Brady was wearing his Spiderman watch, Bibleman noticed and asked "So who's your favorite, Spiderman or me?" I have to say I was afraid what Brady's answer might be. Brady thought for a minute than smiled real big and said "YOU!" Whew! hahaha Everybody laughed.
I'm glad we got to go, it was a nice time to spend with Brady.

A COSI Afternoon

Kirk took a half day off work today and we took the kids to COSI(science center for those out of staters) in downtown Columbus. We had been meaning to take Brady for awhile but time had slipped away from us. I'm glad we didn't take him at an earlier age, and he really should still be a little older. It's really geared for late elementary/JH kids. He did have fun looking at the space stuff and the oceanic/submarine exhibits. Bethany was able to enjoy it a little too. She wasn't feeling to good though.
Kirk and I were a little disappointed, they don't seem to have as much hands on stuff and displays like they used to. They have gone to a lot of movies it seems, which you pay extra for and would have been pointless for us.
It was still nice to have some family time. The kids liked their time with daddy and mommy did too! :)

Here are a few pictures:

Bikes, soccer, 30 and a visit!

Friday started a very hectic weekend! Friday Brady had a birthday party to go to, it was one he was looking forward to for weeks! It was a bike party for his friend Emily. Off we went Friday evening to go. Oh, Kirk was on his way to Cleveland to meet up with some friends to go see the Indians game. Well, wouldn't you know it the Durango started acting up-BIG TIME! I hurried up and pulled into the McDonalds parking lot. We were already running late for the party, I called Kirk and I decided I should call Scott & Amber to see if they could take us to the party. Lucky for us and gracious of them, they let me borrow their car for the evening so we were able to get to the party and go to the store to get some diapers that I desperately needed(for Bethy). The party was a lot of fun for Brady and he really enjoyed it. Of course as I got home I did flip out just a tad, and was really upset about the whole Durango situation. I took Scott & Amber's car back in and as Amber was taking us home we decided that I would try and get the Durango home at least. She followed me and I made it home with little problem. I figured this way it's safe and Kirk can deal with it in the morning. The rest of the night went fine, got the kids bathed and to bed and I chilled out for the rest night.
Saturday we got up and hurriedly got ready for Brady's last soccer game. He did really well this game. He got into a little more and had some contact with the ball. He played goalie for awhile too. He got a medal at the end of the game, which of course was really cool! :)

We came home really fast and changed and then off we went to Ashland for Nate's big 3-0 party. It was so much fun. I was feeling good! We were able to see some people that we hadn't seen in awhile and it was nice to catch up! The kids had fun playing with Nate & Jen's daughter Sofie and we got to meet their new edition Jonah-SO CUTE!! You know what was another good thing about the party-I kept reminding myself I'm still 29!!!! hahaha :)

Sunday Kirk decided to go into work for a bit, other than that nothing too exciting on Sunday.

Monday my grandparents from IL stopped in for a visit. It was really nice to see them. The kids loved it! We hadn't seen them since Christmas so it was nice to catch up face to face. You forget really how much you miss someone until you see them and they have to leave again.:( Hopefully we will get to spend some more time with them this summer.

Well, that wraps it up. I'm looking forward to a couple of downtime days. Brady and Kirk have some t-ball practices at night but other than that its relaxing time.

Brady's preschool graduation

Today was Brady's last day of preschool ever! It was a little somber in the hallway this morning. All the parents were oddly quiet. The looks on their faces showed the bit of sadness of this day. It seemed we had to wait forever for Mrs. Myers to open the classroom door, I guess it really wasn't that long of a wait, but to us parents it was. The hardest part of the day for me was watching him walk into his classroom for the last time. He gave me a hug and kiss and said he loved me and off he ran.

Later that day instead of picking them up on the playground, we all went down to the fellowship hall and sat in our seats as we waited for our big preschool graduates to come. I tried to dress Brady nicely for this big day; I was wondering how he kept it up during the course of the day. They finally came marching in. Brady walked in, all smiles, his shirt was untucked on one side. :)They all lined up on the platform and sang us songs. They did so great!!! They all did the movements too. You couldn't help but laugh they were so cute and looked so grown up!! After they sang their songs they all sat down and then one by one they walked up on a platform and received their diplomas and hugged their teachers. They were so excited and so proud, which they had every right to be! They all look so different than they did the first day of preschool. It was definately a bittersweet day.

The weekend

Friday, Kirk took a comp day and we were able to go to IN and visit Bonnie for a couple of hours. It was so nice. We hadn't seen her since Christmas. Robin and Liz got there later and Brady had a fun time with them, it was pretty funny when he told them that their rooms were messy and they needed to clean them. It was a really good visit.

Well, once we got home things took a turn for the worse with little Bethany. She had been acting a little off the whole day, but I knew she was teething and one of her 2yr molars was starting to pop through. As I was getting dinner ready, she was crying a lot and Kirk was trying to soothe her and hold her. Just as I was getting ready to sit down with my food and Oops! Up it all comes out of Bethany. She never got sick again after that but the whole weekend she was battling a 104 temp off and on. So I stayed home with Bethany on Saturday while Brady and Kirk went to soccer and T-ball. Saturday night was hard, Kirk ended up sleeping with her in the rocking chair. I decided to stay home with her Sunday morning too. She still had a high temp and the Motrin hadn't kicked in by the time we needed to go. She slept a lot yesterday, which I think helped. She finally ate some applesauce last night and also some crackers. This morning she was doing a lot better. No more temp. PTL!!

Other than a sick child, my Mother's Day was relaxing. I got two pots of flowers that Brady planted himself from Brady and Bethany. They are very pretty. Since we were unable to go out to eat like what Kirk had planned, Kirk ordered some Chinese food which I had been wanting. It was SOOO yummy!

Fighting the tears

Well, today I took Brady to kindergarten registration. I have been dreading this day for the past month. I can't believe it is already that time for Brady to go to "big" school. Him starting preschool was emotional for me, not only was he starting school but I was on bedrest when I was pregnant with Bethany so I missed a lot of the new stuff. Now here is kindergarten. Now he's in school all the time, until he graduates HS. We get summers but they're just summers that fly by. This is it, I have a big boy whose trotting off to school. After I dropped Bethany off at Amber's, I was driving to pick Brady up from preschool, just thinking about where the time went. I didn't cry though. Once we got to school and we were walking in I was nervous and he was not at all, I took his confidence and went in feeling good. I didn't cry. It was a very smooth process, of course the parents had to wait while our little ones went off by themselves and were tested. I turned to watch him a few times, he was always laughing and talking in response to the teachers. It made me proud that boy was mine! He did very well on his tests! So phase 1 down of this new adventure for us, I survived it! Wonder what's going to happen with phase 2? Actually letting him go on that first day of school. It will probably be a bit more traumatic for mom then Brady.

We came home, Bethy napped, Brady went to play, and Mommy cried.

Take me out to the ballgame

Saturday we took the kids to a Columbus Clippers game. Kirk had gotten free tickets from work, it was State Employee Day at Cooper Stadium. It was a little chilly but not too bad. It was really crowded, we got there about an hour early and we did get pretty decent seats. The "tipsy" lady in front of us let Brady use one of her Clipper Bells so he had a blast ringing that thing. Bethany wasn't into very much, she was a bit of a crab! ;) We got some cotton candy, figuring something new & something sweet for her would be a mood booster. Well, no it wasn't. She wanted nothing to do with it and you'll see in the pics below having something stringy and sticky on her hands was NOT cool. hahaha Brady wanted some peanuts because that is what P-pa had gotten him at the Indians game, so we got them. He was doing good breaking them open and then he just looked at me and said "Mommy this takes too long" he then popped a whole one, shell and all in his mouth and started munching away. Before I could get him to stop it was gone into the depths of his belly. We put away the peanuts after that. So after the whole peanut in the belly, sticky cotton candy, salt all over my shirt from a pretzel and spills of one & a half $4 Pepsi's we decided to call it a night after the 3rd inning. The Clippers were playing good, but the kiddos were tired and Mommy & Daddy had enough for that night. Once we got to the car everyone relaxed, we decided to drive downtown and then drive along High St and look at what was new. The kids enjoyed it and Kirk & I reminisced about when we were first dating and going on our first date and how we would come and hang out there. It was a nice family outing and although it gets haired at times, we love the memories that we are making with the kids.

Sunday, we mowed and mowed! It was nice getting out there again though. Bethy loves to mow! She waves & yells hi to Daisy, Simon, every bird & I think to the flying grass too! :)

Here are some pictures:
